I am Susie Robertson and have been an artist since late childhood. My love of art was inspired by a teacher who encouraged me to draw inspiration from my imagination and the natural world.
As I create, I find I am totally absorbed and it is pure escapism. As an adult I have the time to explore and follow my passion and follow my heart. In my art I use a variety of medium from, water colour, acrylics, water- based pencils to Polychromos pencils.
My work is either on paper or canvas according to what medium I am using.
I am never happier when focused and fully absorbed when creating a painting/picture for a client be it a client’s beloved fur baby or creating from my imagination. Many a time my customers have cried with happiness over their completed commission of their pet. I love to draw/paint animals and hope to give my customers a lasting memory to treasure.
Private commissions are a two-way process and conveying the customers wishes on to paper/canvas is key to a satisfied customer. Both a privilege to be able to deliver a piece of artwork and to be able to grace your home with a unique bespoke picture.
I get super excited about creating a piece of art that will take pride of place on a client’s wall. I feel a sense of pride for creating something from an idea and taking that idea forward. Never more so than my idea based around the relationship and love- between my dog (Barney) and a young boy (Harry my son). I have written and illustrated this and will move forward with this to publication- Watch this space…
I am based on the High Weald in West Sussex, England. I have had the amazing fortune of living in the country side where I draw inspiration for my work. I am influenced by nature and am blessed and thankful to see deer, rabbits, pheasants and many native birds that frequent the bird feeder looking for food. Just to sit and watch the wildlife is a privilege and a pure joy. I have 3 children, 2 grandchildren and 2 dogs and spend many an afternoon visiting National Trust properties of which there are many in West Sussex.
I have an A level in art from my school days and have since always used my knowledge and skills in creating commissions. I have also designed a range of greetings cards and have recently produced illustrations for a local author- Fran Parsons, her book being “A Dinosaur’s Rhymes on Modern Times” which is in the final stages of production and will be available direct from the author or Amazon Books. All proceeds of Fran’s book will be going to local charities. My work also includes petportraits, house/building portraits, wildlife, horses, wedding bouquet portraits, large statement portrait canvasses to detailed paintings of flowers.
I have recently met another author and am in discussions with him about coming up with illustrations for his new book. I will also have limited
edition prints available for sale – again watch this space…
I have taught myself how to use most mediums and love the diversity of them all.
If you would like to discuss a commission with me, or purchase a piece of art work I would love to hear from you. The design process is a 2-way process and communication with you the customer is the key to success. I look forward to hearing from you.
